Website Design Resolutions for the New Year

In our last blog, we focused on the five questions to ask yourself before you embark on a website design or redesign. This time, we’ll be focusing on the best practices for getting the most out of your website. Our website design resolutions, if you will.

We here at Creative Click Media strongly encourage business owners to adopt these resolutions. Every fiscal year is a journey, so why not start yours on the right foot?

1.Establish Distinct Business Goals for the New Year

Just like in nature, commerce follows the rules of inertia. Simply put, if a business isn’t expanding, it’s shrinking. So how are you planning to expand your business in the new year? Are you entering new markets? Targeting a new demographic? Looking to strengthen existing business relationships? Setting well defined business goals will help in the effort to align your website with the achievement of your chosen objectives.

2.Freshen up your Website’s Content

Has your site turned sour on you? Believe it or not, content has an expiration date. Dated content, broken links, and stale sales messages give visitors to your site the impression that you are disconnected, or worse, unconcerned, with the quality of your site. Take the new year as an opportunity to review and refresh your website’s content. A little bit of ‘buffing up’ will go a long way toward improving your digital presence.

3.Add Video Content

Video content is a great way to boost your site’s search engine ranking while simultaneously engaging visitors. Animated explainer videos are a great way to showcase a product, service, or organization, and they don’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Also, videos can help boost your social media campaigns; studies have found that video is the single most shared content on social media.

4.Go Mobile or Go Home

2015 is widely predicted to be the year that mobile web usage will outpace P.C. web usage. Capitalize on this emergent trend with a mobile responsive website. People are more kinetic and active than ever, and mobile websites allow visitors to access your site anywhere, anytime. Mobile responsive websites display and function as well on a 7 inch phone screen as they do on a 25 inch P.C. monitor, ensuring that you’re everywhere your customers are.

5.Utilize Online Directories

There are plenty of general and industry-specific online directories available for posting a company’s website. Many of these directories are free and can afford your site with increased traffic. You can find a list of some of the best regarded of these directories here. Take some time to research what directories would be most worthwhile to list in and reach out to them to see how to have your business included.

6.Improve your Search Engine Ranking

Accurately directed Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services from a professional digital marketing company can drastically improving online visibility and improve a company’s search rankings. Most search engine users never go past the first page of a search engine result, so if your business isn’t on the top page, you’re missing out on a ton of potential clients.

7.Capitalize on Social Media

Smart businesses have been reaching out to a customers and driving traffic through social media channels for years now. At this point, if you’re not on the bandwagon, you’re being left in the dust. Decide on which social media platforms make the most sense for your business (no, they’re not all the same) and develop a solid, engaging, and manageable social media presence. Post often and take the time to actively engage with your audience.

8.Run Pay-Per-Click Advertising

Pay-per-click campaigns can reap benefits for any business, big or small. Target appropriate keywords and demographics, based on comprehensive analysis, that are well suited to your business. The equal footing afforded by the internet means that, with a proper pay-per-click campaign, even a small business can stand toe to toe with an international corporation or franchise.

Once you’ve decided on a website resolution for the new year, consider meeting with a marketing expert or consultant and calculate an appropriate advertising budget (typically 2 to 5 percent of your monthly budget). If you lack the time, direction, or expertise to manage your own internet marketing campaign, consider outsourcing your campaigns to a qualified team of professionals like Creative Click Media.

I haven’t made any resolution this year, but for last few days I am working hard on improving the existing content. I also plan to experiment with paid promotion tactics, to see how it works out.

So overall, I will be focusing more on producing quality content and using paid tactics to promote that content.

    Hi Devesh,

I will also be focused on promoting my content using paid advertising this year. I am impressed by all of the great info on your twitter feed. Do you have a website?
