Intern Tells All: My Experience at Creative Click Media

Being an intern is no longer about being unpaid and overworked. Interns that are used as a company lackey and fetching coffees are a thing of the past. Interning at Creative Click Media has proved to be an integral and valuable part of my work experience. As a student, my experience in the marketing world has been limited to knowledge I have learned in the classroom and my interpretation of what my overpriced textbooks have to say. However, working here has allowed me to learn the inner workings of a premier digital marketing agency.

So let me introduce myself, my name is Nicole I enjoy long walks on the beach, petting dogs, and putting on skates and hitting people. When I’m not busy pursuing my marketing degree at Kean University, you can find me being a Communications Intern here at Creative Click Media.

It’s All About the People

The first thing that a company is evaluated for is their culture. The culture of a company can encourage an employee to see themselves as a fit with the team or to get out. Coming from a varied work background, I have never experienced a work environment such as the one here. Not only is the atmosphere open and fun, but the employees themselves are some of the most hardworking people I have met. However, despite the deadlines and long lists of “to-do” items there is no shortage of laughter, jokes, pizza, and ping pong matches.

Before my first day, I immediately felt like one of the team members. Despite not being scheduled to start until after the holiday, Adam had invited me to the office Christmas Party. That party gave me some insight on what was to come and it made me excited. On my first day, I was plagued with the typical “new job anxiety.” However, my worries melted away as I was greeted with warm hellos and funny gifs. With my uncertainties gone, I was comfortable and ready to take on my new role as a Communications Intern.

What I Have Learned

During my time here, I have learned a lot. I have learned not only about the business of digital marketing, but also about myself. I was given the opportunity to learn and expound upon my interests and skills.

My amateur sleuthing skills came in handy when it came to researching outlets and finding appropriate contacts for press releases. Doing the research allowed me to become more aware of the importance of understanding target audiences and developing strategies to promote to them. However, I am positive that if I don’t make it in marketing, I will do just fine in the FBI.

Crafting tweets for the firm and also the clients gave me an opportunity to utilize my creativity while also learning about the importance of shifting the tone to reflect what the client wants to say. Exploring my strengths allowed me to explore my weaknesses as well. However, if I wasn’t able to identify them, I would have never been able to grow as much as I have while working here.

What it Means

An intern is defined as such “a student or trainee who works, sometimes without pay, at a trade or occupation in order to gain work experience.” Getting the opportunity to be a Creative Click Media intern has meant more to me than just a bland definition. It means becoming a part of the team, always ordering a margarita pie, and obsessing over Rita’s. It means learning how to continuously improve yourself and the work you put out. It means that Creative Click Media is full of amazing employees. It was an amazing experience working here and I’m not sure where it will take me, but I do know that this is leading me down the right path. If you are looking for above average performance from a premier team of marketing gurus, you’re in the right place. Contact the team, you won’t be disappointed.
